Default Coilover/Strut suggestion?

Ok, I have had a brand new set of Skunk2 coilovers sitting in my room, waiting to get the money for the rest of what I need. Now that I'm ready to get the struts, my friend put just skunk2's on his civic in the meantime and the ride was very stiff. Is there a good suggestion of what type of strut I can get to make this ride smoother but still have the handling that coilovers give over lowering springs? Or is there another different setup I should get and forget about the coilovers I have now? Any help and suggestions would be great. Lowering springs are not out of the question either if the benefits are good.

My friend had some skunk2 coils and KYB AGX 2 way adjustable struts. It drove pretty smooth to say it had coilovers.

I like the Koni Yellows. The KYB's are alright, but Koni makes a better damper in my opinion.
