my 01 ls knocks at low speeds. usually when going from first into second.when it knocks i can feel it in the shifter.does anyone know what this could be?

how do you check a motor mount.?.

You look at them and see if they are cracked/broken.

have the hood open, apply E-brake, either you or friend watch them, and other person puts it in gear and lets out on the clutch a bit, enough to make the engine lurch, forwards and backwards. dont over do it, too much may damage the clutch.

use a flashlight to see any cracks or separation of rubber.

ill check that in the morning and let you know it thats it. also when i start the car the maint. req. light flashes roughly 15 times.any idea what that could be.

When ur car starts to knock again...ask who it is! J/k...sounds like a bad motor mount to me...check the rear mount...gl
