i have a 93 civic hatchback w/t3 t4 b18b.car kept shutting down on me due to the fuel pump not getting power so a few people said the main relay was bad so i replaced it with a brand new one(i replaced it w/one for a 93 civic would that be the correct one since it has a different motor not sure?).car still has the problem after driving for a few mins.someone else said my altenator was bad but if i start it and disconnect the neg terminal on the battery car stays running so it's not the altenator.does anybody have any other suggestions?any comments or ideas would be greatly appreciated..thanks...

Who did the swap and how long has it been in the car ..
Did this just start happening when you went turbo...

1st are all your wireing connected (chech everything no lose connections even grounds)
2nd are you running on the stock Ecu for the b18b or a chipped p28 or something ...

you said you disconnected the batterie while your car was running did you put a load on it like turn the lights on a/c and radio ....

and last i would check for any vacuum leaks ... thats all i can think of ...

i bought the car 2 months ago with the turbo set up already done.the only thing ive done was to put a small system in it(600w amp pushing 2 12" subs)thats why the altenator theory sounded correct.i believe it's running a p06..?something like that.it has an ignition kill in it which is a relay near the fuel pump going to a hidden switch.i checked for all connections everything looks good to me.i guess i'll have to take it to a shop i just can't figure it out..thanks

Checked as in visually or with a multimeter?

Are you certain that you are losing fuel pressure and not spark?

Please explain what you have done to determine that the fuel pump loses power...

when the fuel pump originally died i checked it with a multimeter.i replaced it and worked fine.now after driving for a few mins the car just dies(no power)but still have the radio and all dash lights.

to me, it sounds like the vibrations of the car might be causing a loose connection in the fuel pump wire harness.

what you could try is running a jumper wire from the positive battery terminal to the fuel pump and see if it continues to cut off. that way you know for a fact that you have constant power running to the fuel pump. if it doesn't cut off, then start checking all of the connections starting at the fuel pump harness.

speaking from experience, also check the fuse boxes for loose fuses that may lose continuity from vibrations.

also, where are you located? i might be able to stop by and assist....

What kind of fuel pump are you using? Are you sure the fuel pump is cutting off or are you just low on fuel. A friend was having the same problem with an aftermarket fuel pump. The problem was the fuel sending unit was saying he had more gas than he did so the car was running out of gas. Put more gas in it and the problem was solved.

hey eric i'll try that pos to fuel pump wiring you said and i live up in baltimore otherwise i'de definetly ask you to stop by.and i believe it's a factory fuel pump i bought the car with this setup in it.i may want to upgrade to a bigger fuel pump while im at it.any recommendations?
