breaking in a clutch
ok i just got my clutch installation finished tonight and i was jsut woundering how do i properly go about breaking in a clutch? ive never had to do it before nor do i have any knowledge of how to do it. do i just drive? or is there a certain way i shoould go about things a certain speed i should stay under or a certain rpms or what? any help will be greatlly apriciated thanx in advance

by not getting on it at all do you mean over a certain rpm, obviously no burning out and shit but no vtec, no fast interstate driving...none of that?

do not be hard on the clutch, ie taking off fast slipping the clutch alot, snatching of gears, just drive it gently on the clutch side of things

On my clutch i swapped in I drove 1500 miles. No high rev shifts and no speed shifting.
Some say break it in hard others say not. I hope you got the Fly wheel done as well.

Usually you can break them in like you normally would drive around town, the thing to watch out for is heat. You won't have full surface contact until it's broken in (that's why you break it in) which is why you don't want to really beat on it or slip it a lot. It's easier to build up heat that way, and there is less surface area to take the load so it's easier to glaze everything up. Driving around town is fine because the loads are low and the heat can dissipate between stoplights. Driving like a granny isn't going to buy you anything, it will just increase the time it takes to break in. You have to put load on it to get everything to mate and seat properly. Basically unless you're putting a little bit of wear on the clutch, it's not getting broken in.
