I'm asking 99slowlst...since he said it's still a 1.6 liter engine with little torque. Is that implying that LS turbos are faster?

Also, I think it's pretty dumb to drive a 1.8l and clown a 1.6l because "it's such a little engine". It's 0.2 liters differance.

A b16 head has so much better flow than the LS that the displacement doesn't really matter.. You'll get better top end HP with the B16, higher RPM, and if you really want the best of both worlds (torque and HP) you can always get a LS block later and do the cliched LSVTEC.......
The turbo will more than make up for any torque difference between the two motors, I've seen 10psi 300+ HP B16s with STOCK internals, and lots of torque.
It's all YOUR choice, and what you think would be best for YOUR car and the way YOU drive..
On yeah, an LS will be cheaper.

Not necessarily, you can have a big 2.4 liter that don't flow worth a shit in the head, wack cams, bad rod to stroke ratio and just not make any good power, all in all totally built to the hilt the B16A wins over a built straight b18A/B imonot LS/VTEC. Also that motor may not rev worth a shit, remember gearing is a gib part of the game too. LS tranny for Turbos is not the answer, shorter gearing will also accelarate quicker no matter what, once you start to step it up to 24.5 slick and larger it is more apparent the greatness of the short VTEC trannies also.

Not necessarily,
okay now what about a fully built all motor b18 making less power than a slightly modified stock internal b20 vtec...........your right, in some cases it doesnt, and in some cases it does
