Default Audio problem

Okay. My boy is having some weird complications with his audio setup. I just took at look at it today to see if it was a simple fix so I dno't know the full deatils but...: 2 12in Audiobahn's DVC, Kenwood 600W Class D, Scoche 1.5 Farad Cap, and a Sony headunit. He turned the car on and turned the stereo on (already at low volume) and the subs would play. Normal. When he tried to turn the volume up the subs would cut out immediately. His capacitor would be lit and the amp light would be lit with no protection light on. He turns the car off and the subs wouldn't come back on after that either. Also when he had the car running the capacitor would turn off and come on periodically. He said it just got like that all of a sudden about two days ago. I can't think of anything that could be the cause of his problems. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Get a meter. Check the battery with it on. Check all the wiring. Does the radio cut off?

That's the first thing I thought of. The radio and the interiors don't cut off when the subs do either. I'm assuming to test the outouts from the amp first right?

You can do so. I had a problem with one of my friends amps a while ago were it was going bad. Start simple then go to the harder things to test.

I think we have about the same kind. Should I try swapping headunits to see if it works?

Yeah that wouldn't hurt? Quick simple easy answer. I can't really tell you with out being there what is wrong.
