Default alternator/power issues?

After getting my car together and running, i noticed that the car wasnt holding a charge. The battery wont turn over the car, but with a jump the car will start and up run with no problems. It ran today for 20minutes and just shut off, i repeated the process and it did it again. I used a little light tester and put it on the alternator when the car was running and it was pushing out power. Is it my battery thats bad or need to be charged?

could very well be your cables are bad or loose. But it sounds like an alternator problem, or even a ground wire...

check the connectors on top of the alternator to make sure they are fully seated. ive seen them come loose and cause this a couple times.

more than likely the alternator went out though

edit: if/when you replace it...make sure you charge the battery up before starting the car too. alternator death sucks
