my girlfriend drives a pretty beat up 97 jetta, and the oil light's always on. i check the oil, didn't seem to be that dirty, added a little, drove around the block. it goes away in the 1.5-2.5k rpm range, but when i want to get moving, the light will blink back on. the car sounds like the valves are going to shoot out of the little german block already. i'm just thinking it's a piece of shit cuz it's a vw. thoughts, comments, etc.

there's a high and low oil pressure sensor, replace them both. It'll be like $20 and your oil light will go away

the noise is just part of owning an old VW w/lifter tick.
