Default 97 civic motor swap????!!!!!!!

Ok, with me being a DSM guy i figured one of the 24k Honda owners on here could help me with this alot better than me guessing at it myself... Anyways a friend of mine just bought a 97 civic hx i think it is and i was wondering what would be the best motor to look at getting for a swap? Not really tryin to do anything outrageous just somethink thats kinda quick. LMK

$ compared to power. imo, the best bang for the bucks swaps are the ones i listed. and k-series swaps are in a different league then a d or b swap. here is a more broad list of possible swaps:

buget: d-series swap (cheap and easy)
normal: b-series swap (fairly cheap and easy)
best: k-series swap or h/f-series swap (fairly easy, depending on swap kit)
top of the line, you sh!t is so big it hangs on the floor: H2B swap (cause 12s on a stock engine is pimp)

i could break it down even more if you want fran. but that would be more then the OP asked for. but for power to weight/$ the b-series swaps are going to be king, till the k-series swap is more affordable.

Francisco doesn't need it broken down from you. He understands what you are saying, he was just making sure you knew what you were talking about, as he was probably concerned that you believed the b18c5 was superior to the k.

And getting b18c5 from Hmotors is like 4k, when locally you could shop around and probably get a k motor for 5k or less. Then you have an amazing powerplant.

He said he's thinking probably nothing over a grand. The car is automatic too and the motor thats on there now is over 230k so.... A motor swap will be in order as soon as it dies or he has the money for.

Heck you would have a problem putting the stock engine back in it for a grand. Sorry not to sound like a azz, but he needs to save up a while and then give it a try.

What kind of car do you have?

I will find him the stock engine, put it in, and he will still have 300+ left over. Non-vtec single cams are cheap, and direct bolt in. Take it out, put it in.
