97 Civic GSR Swap Help!

Default 97 Civic GSR Swap Help!

ok just got the motor in, used my civic harness on the motor. Unpluged the single cam ecu inside and it has four connectors going into it, but my gsr ecu only has space for three conectors?! I know about the whole obd2a and obd2b stuff so i am using a 97 p72! HELP PLEASE!!!

what are you needing help with? get you a jumper harness, and wire in vtec.

If your GSR ECU only has 3 connector positions, it's not a 97 ECU. All 96 and up Honda ECUs have 4 connector positions, but only 3 positions are used. OBD2a and OBD2b don't use the same 3 positions out of the 4 available positions.

Is your Civic an automatic? I can't remember if the 4th connector position on OBD2 Honda stuff is for auto trans functions or something like that..

That's why you have 4 connectors on the harness. I don't ever do anything with auto trans cars, but I would assume that the fourth plug is auto trans functions only so you can probably just not use that plug. Honda generally uses a very standard pinout, so the main 3 connector positions should be identical pinout for the manual and auto trans ECUs I would imagine.
