Default 94 integra heat question

94 ls integra with a/c still, worked when it was bought but all of a sudden it stopped working.

There a a "nipple intake" on it and it seems to have melted through one of the a/c lines.

Would that affect the heat or just the a/c?

we bought a heater core for the car but dont want to go thorugh the hassle of doing that if that is not the problem

any reply would be greatly apreceited

a thermostat will only fail in 2 positions, open or shut. If your car takes FOREVER to warm up,or doesnt reach full opt temp, then its failed in the open position. If your car overheats after started and never reaches operating temp and holds it,its in the closed position. If you want you can test it when you take it out. Boil a pot of water and drop it in and see if it opens.
