Hotshot seems to be the header most 240 guys go with, however I had a megan on my last s14 and it was very nice quality I must say. As far as a SOHC KA, really the Hotshot is all ive ever heard of. And from what ive seen id stay away from the pacesetter/OBX type header.
a 3in resonator paired with a 3" exhaust will make a world of difference. If i got another exhaust i'd go with the vibrant racing muffler or a cucrit sport catback. any one with balls knows that the buddy club spec II is the sweetnees tho!!
oh and get a 3in exhaust thats total bullshit about a loss of power/ torque

I ran an apexi n1 single on my old 240, both NA and turbo.
NA is more audible, but doesn't have that raspy fartcan note. Turbo will make the exhaust a bit quieter. 3" or 2.5 will both sound find as long as it's a quality exhaust.
If you want to retain a stock look/sound, look at the apexi WSII.

I used to run my own version of that - didn't want to pay 350 bucks for a straight pipe. I drive around for about 3 months w/o any problems and I got pulled one night and was given a ticket for disturbing the peace (which is a Class 1 Misdemeaner - posession of weed is only a class 2). It all got dropped in court, but now I have a muffler like vibrant and a high flow cat.
My opinion-
For a stock NA 240, take off the stock catback and weld an equal diameter pipe in place of the resonator/pre-muffler. Pick up something like a Magnaflow or flowmaster straight through muffler and weld it in place of the stock muffler.
Total cost-approx $100

I'm getting a 2.5 tomarow for the reason the price is like a sore sick i can't beat it. lol. 125 bucks. Tho i have always like a DTM style has a deep pure to it. Once it gets on I will see if iI can get an audio clip for ya. BTW a good rattle can takes care of any bling factor.
