ya, haha I don't like vw's very much either, almost everything on them is so much different, it's weird. But I don't know why he would think we would get that much hp from that turbo. What does the compressor efficiency mean? How much boost it can handle? Or what exactly, I really want to start researching turbo's.

When you pressurize a gas, it heats it. Compressor effiecency is how much more the air is heated when compressed then the ideal gas law says it has to be. 100% efficiency would be when the air is heated only as much as it has to be. a good turbo will run about 80%. The cooler the air is, the denser it is, and the more power you will make. the fact that air is heated when pressurized is why we need intercoolers. Also, the better the intercooler (not just the biggest), the cooler the air will be, and hence more power.

VOLKSWAGENS ARE OFF THE SHEEZY....and ECRinDUB meant "only if you knew" as in...only if you knew about the performance possibilities and volkswagens itself....

most of us do know about there capability, i see one every year running mid 12's all motor, its just theres really not alot of them out there that are worth 2 shits, some of them are fast but in rlaltion to hondas or nissans vw's do suck the fatty when it comes to performance, i definitely think that there potential to go fast is there, just most people really cant do it.......and i mean come on, its a turbo car struggling to make 120 hp, thats just sad....

its not that all older vw's arent fast even with turbos. its that the 8v motor just cant flow enough air to get the full gain of the turbo. a 16v would in theory be a better motor to run a turbo but they are a very touchy motor. they are also fairly expensive to work on. 16v turbos produce high amounts of power but also require alot of work to make them capable of handling boost. the 16v motor could possibly be the best motor vw has made especially for the time period it was produced in. it was a very complex head design for its day. i bet no one on here even knows that they had the first vr6 prototype in a mk2. if i recall correctly is was in 88/89.

pic for proof

go drive a honda without vtec or a turbo. build an all motor non-vtec honda motor and build an all motor 16v. the 16v may cost a little more but it will produce more power.

edit: i am talking 120 wheel hp
