5psi=50hp?!
Depends on size of the turbo and how high it is currently boosted. You may gain say 10hp per psi at low boost but up top become infficient and blow nothing but hoit air and start losing power or only gain minimal. But stock turbos on stock cars general ule of thumb is 10hp per psi in moderation.
as it stands right now, with my t3/t04e garret turbo im making about 8.25 hp per psi, so id say its a rule of thumb that you make about 8-10 hp per psi....but like t dog said, you start making lots of power and running boost outside of efficiency range, youll start to drop hp per psi.......

Ya he is going to be using the turbo from the jetta tdi, which is a t3, and run it at 5 psi. He has an 87 vw golf which he claims has 120hp but I doubt a car thats 15 years old still has the same amount of power. Wouldn't you guys agree?

golfs had around that much hp, give or take a few.. it very well could boost that much, but thats at maximum efficiency... i dont that that turbo was meant to lay down stupid high boost, im guessing in the mid to low 40's hp range is more realistic....
no. if its an 87 and its a regular golf not a gli then it is probably an 8v. which had around 90/100hp. i highly doubt that even with the turbo at 5psi that he will get anywhere near 120whp
