okay i have a obd1 jdm gsr ecu thats automatic. How would i go about converting it to 5 speed ecu?

There are two resistors inside that need to be removed, and one of those two needs to have a jumper put there instead. It's very easy to do if you have decent soldering skills or know someone who does. I can't remember what resistors they are, but a Google search should find what you need.


Oh, JDM ECU.. That's a bit more tricky sorry. I just saw that. If it's a small-case ECU, the parts are all surface mount and will need to be changed by someone familiar with surface mount parts. I can't remember if the mods are any different though...

I'll go over to the PGMFI Wiki and see what the mods are. I wrote some of the Wiki text for that site but it's been years since I've played with most of the Honda ECU stuff.

I think the resistor you need to change is on the back of the circuit board, but I can't remember and I don't have anything to look at.

If you find someone to change the resistor for you, they should either have the correct part on hand or will know where to get it. You can't just go to Radio Shack and buy surface mount resistors, they have to be bought through an electronics distributor.
