Taurus PT1911.

It's the best 1911 for the money, if not the best gun for the money out there right now.

That's definitely a possible for my next purchase... I've been looking at a few on GB, and the Taurus is one that keeps drawing me back into it. Do you own more than one of them?

I'm actually waiting for the next local show to buy my own PT1911, but I've shot several and they are, in my opinion, better than the entry-level Kimbers, Springfields, Para Ordinances and Colts, and far superior the other one-off manufacturers such as Rock Island Armory, High Point, Norinco, etc.

We are going to try and make it down there, but we will have a one week old baby by then, so it might not be possible. I'd love to get a range day going, but I don't know much about Roanoke ranges.

You're crazy for several reasons if you're thinking you'll be able to attend a range day with a one week old baby. Either you've got a cool wifey/girlfriend, or you're begging to start paying child support. If the baby wasn't a week old, maybe it'd be a little different. lol

Well, crazy and the child support thing.

It's probably more wishful thinking that maybe she will let me get out of the house for a while, because I can see now how it's going to be with a week + straight of her parents and my parents being around.

Best of luck with that! I don't know what it's really like, as I haven't been in your shoes yet, but I imagine it's going to be chaos for some time after having a newborn. I hope you're able to get out every once in a while, for sanity's sake.

I do. I used to be good enough to shoot 2 clays with an old single shot (reloading in air) 20 guage my grandpa used. I'm sure I can't do it nowadays.
