Be careful with the "blackout" since you can be rejected under this line:

9. The vehicle has unapproved lens or plastic covers, any other materials which are not original equipment or any colored material placed on or in front of rear lamps, license plate lamps and rear lamp combinations.

 

^ Yeah I know about that... but blackout can be removed... getting nabbed w/ a non-existant light would be a pain.

 

i have no 3rd brake light and i passed. I was told that i have to have at least 2 working brake lights.

 

Brian, why not get one from another car that can go behind (inside) your back glass? Pretty much anything with a steep back window would work as a donor probably, or just rob the bezel and put an aftermarket LED light inside so it looks better than a bulb/reflector unit. Don't go without a 3rd light, just move it somewhere else.. Carbon bezel..hmm.

 

if it came on the car it has too work, if it doesnt you can still pass but have 30 days to fix
