H22 burining alot of oil
not to thread jack, and since it is related to h22s, how long does it take to replace the piston rings?
My buddy pulled out my spark plug wires to do a compression test and noticed my motor must have been running rich for a while considering how burnt up the spark plugs were... and as a result, it may have burnt up the piston rings.
possible?

I got a 99 Prelude with 140k on the clock. It burns ALOT of oil, its at maybe 1 quart every 500 miles. Any ideas? No actual leaks from sitting. I did hear someone once say that he saw alot of smoke coming out, when I passed him. But then again he was a ricer that looked pissed cuz he tried to race me and lost...lol. Ive asked my friends, and they said they havent seen any smoke. What do you guys think? Any ideas?
Thanks guys!
Thanks guys!
just thought i'd add that, but more than likely, de-funk's got ya.
VTEC does burn oil on the Lude, so if you live in VTEC all day long, it possibly could be burning it up some. I do not know of any Ludes that does not burn some oil. It doesnt usually burn as much as you have though. My previous 98 Lude had 135k miles and it would have black smoke at WOT as well.
^ its gota b the rings.
my old motor the h22a4 had about 121,000 on the clock and that shit burned at least a quart 1/2 between oil changes...more if i was vtec-happy
my new motor that has around 40k miles doesnt burn any oil, and no black smoke when in vtec as of yet.
