I guess the difference is how one defines "marginally". BAC's and presumptive levels are different than "hammered" (let hammered read as tolerance).

Hey, can I ask you something only marginally related?

In your experience, do you catch more DUIs at night when operating a roadblock (and just DUIs, not concerned with general criminal activity that gets detected at a DUI roadblock) or when patroling?

Patrolling has yielded more DUI arrests. I have only worked four "roadblocks" in my ten years, and they only yielded one DUI arrest for me. When I worked Fairfax County, I averaged ~125 DUI arrests a year...I work perm mids though.

Whats your interest in the breath tests? Chemist? Law School?

Law School. I actually want to be a CA when I graduate (well, I'd be happy do either side, but if I could have my pick when I graduate it would be CA), but I like thinking of things in terms of the defense side. I figure it'll make it easier to prosecute if I'm able to think like a defense attorney.

125/yr, holy smokes!

I had a feeling roadblocks yield less DUI than patrol. I don't want to know how many times a roadblock turns up general criminal activity by letting you smell/look into a car that you didn't have a reasonable articulable suspicision to stop though. I don't want to get the program into trouble lol.

Bwahahahaha. Well, thus far my only work experience is on the defense side. Tell one of the Hampton Roads CA's offices to have me on to intern this summer and it'll stop.

I wish they still had the program in VA Beach where they would let law students work as cops during the summers.

Everything we need to know about marijuana has already been discovered. It's been used for more than enough years to know what the outcome is.
maybe, maybe not. There are a few things to also consider:

This is a new study and they can not conclude that its the marijuana alone that causes the cancer. It may seem like it from this small amount of data collected but it isn't large enough to include other dietary habbits or other things the patients are exposed to. It may very well be a combination of things that causes this.

Every body is also different. Every person's body goes through different reactions on drugs, and food.

"Still, the results are considered preliminary and need to be confirmed with more research. 'There have been studies done on testicular cancer, but ours is the first to look at marijuana,' said Daling." -CNN
"For patients using cannabis for medicinal purposes, the improvement in quality of life may outweigh any potential risk of testicular cancer, said Shoptaw." -CNN

I dont know what to think about it. THC is acclaimed as an anti cancerous agent and is known to kill unhealthy cells and promote the growth of new healthy cell, but it is also known to reduce sperm count. I know soem ppl that failed for sperm donation at a research center because their sperm count wasn't high enough lol.

It's just funny that every time a weed/alcohol argument comes up, the pot heads claim that weed is so much better then alcohol, completely bypassing the fact that casual usage of alcohol (less then 1 or 2 drinks) doesn't have the affect of smoking up. It's only when you get into the over usage of alcohol and binge drinking where you have a problem

Now a casual link is proposed between cancer and weed and OMG it couldn't possibly be the weed!!!!!
i think it's a dumb fucking hypothesis that anyone could reasonably make about many things based on some simple relationships. and no i'm not a pothead, nor do i smoke pot, nor do i condone the excessive use of it, nor do i believe in JAH or any other hippie shit you might accuse me of.
