k20a2 swap complete 38k miles, includes everything for swap
Anybody who thinks $9k is too much are basically people who don't have and never will have a "k" swapped car. I find people who complain, don't understand, "hate", or disagree with discounted prices are normally people who just can't afford stuff. If anybody out there really has doubt, let me break down the absolute cheapest way to do this swap and then maybe you can do some basic math (if you stayed awake in high school)....
1. K swap $4500-5000... (yeah, there is always some poor desperate kid who crashed his rsx that might give it to you cheaper, also the tooth fairy is real and she hangs out with santa clause and peter pan)
2. shift linkage....varies in price but i've seen $150-250 on average.
3. Motor mounts ... no way around this $400-680.
4. Cv axles....on the cheap end $225...really $350
5. Ecu... you can go jdm for $400-500 or k pro for $1000-1500.
6. Fuel... okay, if you really are good you can get by with around $300 but most of you are dreamers, have no hookups or accounts and will pay more.
7. braided lines...recommended or you better carry a fire extinguisher $200.
8. Pulleys and belts....guess what? for those of you who have never done this before, you gotta change certain pulleys and belts to make this work, so add about $200-300 .
9. Wiring...now here is where are you inexperienced, "know it all", people really screw this up. you think you can buy a wire harness adapter from hasport or avid or any of the so called experts , plug it in and everything works for $350 right? Ha, ha....you wish. This is the major problem with this swap, which is why you gotta pay somebody, not a mechanic, but somebody who really knows wiring to do this part. I can't price this because it can be a day to day labor nightmare.
I've done 5 of these swaps, doesn't make me an expert. I'm sure you guys will find ways to cut corners, get your cars running, and then hold up traffic during rush hour while you sit on the side of the road, broke down or on fire. If you call around to anyone who has a shop "with insurance", that means if they fuck your car up, they can afford to pay and fix it, then you are talking $10-12,000 to do this. Why? Because none of these shops have k20 swaps sitting around tying up they're money waiting for a customer to come in with that kind of money.
Now, don't believe a word i just said. Log on to k20a.org and read for yourself.
When you add it all up, the shop is only making between $1500-2000 to take the risk of screwing up your car. They have to pay employees, insurance, rent, lights, water, sewage, trash, dumpster, even a fucking crack head to clean the bathrooms. Is it worth it? Invest in a shop and find out for yourself.
Again guys, this is just some info based on my personnal experience, and i'm no expert. Just a plain old guy like you trying to stay young, have some fun, make some money, and chase some pussy.....

Now, i got 3 swaps at my shop, one in a car and 2 wrecked rsx type s...(got one in this week with 60k miles). I didn't pay $4500 for the wrecks, so that's how i do this cheaper. Remember i can sell or use the bodyparts of the car ... leather seats, wheels, airbags, doors, rear hatch all fetch really good money. The wrecked car also comes with stock shift linkage (that's a little change saved).
So Mr. Sandos is correct is saying you can do this swap cheaper. I'm sure he's got all the connections to do it. and i'm sure he own's a k swapped car, a shop, makes lots of money and gets all the girlies.....right?
