I towed 2 fourwheelers (warrior and 300ex) on a trailer with my 99 4cyl ranger extended cab many, many, many times (even to hatfield and mccoy's in WV) with no problem. I've had 4 cyl and 6 cyl jeeps also, in the jeep...I would go with the 6. But If I were you, I'd consider a small pick-up.

I have a 91 jeep wrangler, 4.88 gears. I can do about 70 on the interstate and still pass people. Towing a trailer full of mulch i could still accelerate somewhat in 5th gear. was slow but still there. but I would reccomend the 6 because you will get better gas mileage and have more power

i going to have to agree here. a small pickup might be in your best interest. I have a 98 Stepside ranger, 4 cylinder, and get great towing, bigger tires, lifted, and still get 300+ to the tank. It is all in the gears, and I think someone has already pointed that out.

I would serioulsy go with a small pickup though.
