Question for the truck folks...
Mine was an EFI motor with a five speed, it didn't have any trouble getting up and past highway speeds. Plus it was an 88 and I bought it over 10 years ago with around 70k on it.
What kinda tires should I look for? These seem to work well for Richmond potholes. But they seem a little...narrow, to me for sand/mud stuff. Although I know about as much about sand/mud tires as rosie odonnell does about staying quiet.
lol . . .and there is always a debate on tires on here . . . for mud you want a pretty aggressive but not really in the sand because you can sink yourself quick . . however if ya are daily drivering it ya don't want something that's to aggressive and wear out in the first couple years. . . personally I love my tsl's but I would hate to have em on a DD. . . I mean they ride good but are semi loud and wear quick
defnintely keep the 300. my buddy has a 1987 f150 with a 300 in it bored .030 with 36's, 9 inch in the rear. he can idle through a bog. you've got a great truck no matter how you build it.
very clean truck. its carbureted right? id keep the 6 but id look into making it fuel injected. youll like it alot more then. better mileage, driveability, power delivery. as far as tires go....where will you be taking it more? sand? mud? daily driving?
Yeah, it's carb'd. The thought of trying to wire up the EFI stuff, much less finding the EFI stuff someplace isn't something I'd feel up to doing in the parking lot. hell, come to think of it, I wouldnt even know where to look.
On the tires:
Mostly DD, but it'll get down to the beach more than to a mud pit this year.

Nice truck, I'd kill for that thing! The 300 I6 is far a better "truck" motor than the 302 IMO. If your looking into a V8 swap try to find a 351W. The TTB44 front axle is the only downfall if you plan on wheeling hard. Might look into a D60 solid axle swap, you can find them in 80-97 F350s.
