I got a sammy, and Ford 9" question
So I've got a 1990 mustang GT that I'm swapping the motor into my miata.
I bought an 87 sammy last week and was wondering if I could put that ford 9" on my sammy and convert it to brakes. I've looked places but cant find the specs on the 9' or if this particular axle is the one 4x4's can use. How many splines dose it have etc? disc conversion hard? Or should I just go with dana 44's all around?
Thanks in advance,
-Michael

Why go either? You can use yota axles, be just as strong...and you don't need to out-board your leafs.
I have yet to see a 9" under a sammi...due to the width. I have seen d44's and it was a beast, alot of fab-work though.
Check out zuwharrie.com, all the info you could want....and a great place for Zuk talk.

Re: I got a sammy, and Ford 9" question
I plan on a full exo cage with coilover fox shocks mounted to the skeleton, with a tri link rear. No need for leafs.
This will be my nice project as I just got a new job. I'm looking for 36"-38" but im just wondering if the 90's gt rear end is the one im looking for??

Why 3 link rear....go 4 and 3 on the front. Do you understand how wide a full size axle is, VS. a sammi or yota? You obviously have a HUGE budget if you are going FOX (i wouldn't use FOX, FYI) I guess you are going full hydro steering and all too?
Good luck, i run 36's on yotas, was running 38.5's
Hell i have a 9" rear from a mid 70's bronce, if your interested.

Re: I got a sammy, and Ford 9" question
still no one has answered my questions and only offer criticism. All I wanted to know was if I could use my mustangs 9" rear.
I then get offers from people selling theirs...
