Default weird ticket

my friend had a friend that got pulled over this weekend, got the usual tint ticket. but the cop asked him to pop his hood and gave him an "altered intake" ticket.. he admits to being a dick to the cop, probably the reason for the ticket .. but has it got that bad like cali where your getting tickets for intakes? i didnt know they could give one in VA

You'd think something like that would fall under illegal search and seziures. Technically he is searching the mans car without a warrant. I wouldn't have gave him permission but I'm not sure how the whole thing works.

... your friend was dumb for popping the hood without a search warrant. That's why I keep my glove compartment locked, too.

He gave verbal consent. Legal search at that point. Same thing if the cop asks you if you'd mind popping the trunk or asking if he can look around in your car (other than what's in plain view). Without reasonable suspicion, there is no cause to search.

Thank you.

Some of you people need to stop watching CSI. And the intake ticket is probably just another defective equipment ticket, same as an exhaust ticket.

that doesnt work in cali, if you cant pop your hood, they impound the car, fix the latch (at your expence) then go thru the car with a finetooth comb. if you have an unregestered swap, they crush the car
