They won't be able to show you because there isn't a section in there for that. The only dash lights listed in the manual to check are seat belt, air bag, brake (all three cannot be on), and high beam indicator (must go on/off with high beams).

If you're talking about VA emissions, then you automatically fail (ODB2) for a CEL or SES light.
Turbo.

You cannot have an ABS Light On you will fail period.

The reason being, That is a important peice of the braking system. Yes brakes may still work.. but what if they dont anymore? the proportioning valve could be stuck close for lets say the rear brakes and not allow the calipers in the rear to clamp down or hell lets go for the most dangerous scenario to release the rotor..

you need to go and study up on the book again.

ABS ='s Brake System.

ABS Light = Failed.

Taken from http://www.vsp.state.va.us/safety.htm#FAQ%20Safety

. - REMOVE OLD INSPECTION STICKER.

2. - DRIVE VEHICLE INTO INSPECTION LANE.

3. - INSPECT BRAKES FOR:

Worn, damaged or missing parts.

Worn, contaminated or defective linings or drums.

Leaks in system, proper fluid level.

Worn, contaminated or defective disc pads or discs.
(NOTE: A minimum of two wheels and drums must be removed from each vehicle at the time of inspection. Consult the official inspection manual for exceptions.)

DUDE, are you freaking serious?! You will pass a VA inspection with the AMBER ABS light on. Period. I gurantee you. Do you even understand a vehicles ABS/braking system? Vehicles today are designed in the case of a failure to still have front and rear brake power. If a line is cut, the vehicle would still have power to the RF and LR wheels or vice versa. Automotive engineers aren't going to design a flawed system.

It says to inspect the brakes. It doesn't say anything about inspecting the ABS modulators, wheel sensors, ABS computer, etc. ABS in simply an electronically controlled system which helps a vehicle stop in a panic situation. It doesn't help a car stop any faster or slower during everyday driving. Therefore, if there is a fault which threw an amber ABS indicator on, it would still pass a VA inspection.

And while on the emissions topic. You may also fail an emissions if you have a red indicator on, have worn tires, etc. I can reject any vehicle that I deem unsafe to drive on the dynamometer.

I wish I had a scanner so I could show you how wrong you are. I just looked in the manual again. I states exactly, word-for-word: "DO NOT reject if only the amber ABS/anti-lock brake lamp is on." Page 80-1 at the bottom, continued on page 80-2 (section 19 VAC 30-70-80).

So, how about you go look at that book again?
