a cop cannot pull every car over for speeding... whether you want to hear it or not, cops protect our streets from me being mowed down while cruising on the highway. when they see a car w/ apc mods and stickers, they assume, and usually correctly, that its an accident waiting to happen, and its their job to stop them and protect others from their upcoming accident. when that civic w/ apc mods and stickers passes by a cop and if i'm right behind it, guess what? i'm getting pulled over and why? because i'm being associated with the ricer crowd, thanks to some tool who tries to get attention

i think that to some extent you guys are right, that ricers do make a bad image on the street racing scene but face it for the most part cops are doig their job and people are entitled to their own opinion if someone wants underglow or wahtever they can do that its fine with me its not my car and no i dont think it gives any other car a bad impression. Hell if i pulled up next to my car but riced out, i wouldnt care because he can do whatever he wants plus Id still iek mine more so it should be up to the person what they wanna do. But yes i do agree that it should be illegal which from the responses it is because i can see how it would impede others vision. But if u are just gonna bash my brother for being who he wants to be or driving what he wants to drive dont post here and keep your comments to yourself. Why do people put subs in their car? So they can blow out their ears??? not the last time I checked so why don't you bash people who have subs cause they are jsut trying to get attention? my brother can do whatever the hell eh wants you cant get pulled over if your not doing anything illegal so i dont see how you can get pulled over because of some otehr car liek yours i can see how it would happen I guess but not how anything else can come out of it. All I'm saying is that theres a difference between tuning and ricing and you can tell the difference MOST OF THE TIME others people mix and its up to them what they choose all I wanted to know was whether or not it was illegal but I guess we cleared that one up

I agree for the most part, I'll admit I've been followed by many cops while not doing anyhitng illegal jsut because I drive a bright red eclipse. I was driving my girlfriend home the other nite and was followed by a cop until I pulled into her driveway. Jsut don't be supid and don't try to push you luck and youll be fine. Sure they look for "ricers" or "accidents waiting to happen" but thats not all they look for they look for cars associated with racing if not they wouldnt have followed me my car has NOTHING done to it he jsut saw a shiny red eclipse and said oh must be a race. Any ways my point is your not gonna get screwed because of "some tool" as long as you arent doing anything illegal.

On Topic: If he wants neons.. go for it. His choice.. personally believe they are a waste of money at age 16 but again.. his decision. To my knoweldge.. neons were illegal to use while vehicle was in motion -- having said that I am interested to see this other law which makes them illegal regardless. Not reputing it's existence -- just wish to clarify for my own interest.

Side note: Ever notice how reading state laws require a freakin degree in 'legaleze' just to understand what they do and do not prohibit? Reading up on the 'exhaust' law gives me a god damn headache..... Perhaps that's my ignorance at work...

Off Topic: The whole arguement of 'neons are ricer and make the import scene look like shit' is just a buttload of crap. I view them as no different form individiuals whom tune the hell outta their cars with exhausts, intakes, and pretty much anything that is not stock. Why do we all do this? Because we wish to set ourselves apart from either the remainder of our peers in our vehicle class, as well as the autmotive scene period. We wish to exhibit our individuality and express ourselves through the performance/display characteriscs of our vehicles.

After readin that i think i shoudl have put 'I' rather than 'we'.. but don't wanna go through and edit that... I personally enjoy the car scene for the individuality (or sometimes lack of) displayed with each different car. Some people go for show and have some cool looking cars (some).. others go for go and have some fast cars... and there's also the group that does both.. which lead to a sick/insane combination.

Bottom line -- i like em bof

Cops don't pull over APC cars/Muscle cars b/c they're less likely to do anything stupid, as oppose to 250whp+ cars that race anything that moves. Next time you're out, go to a local strip where people drag race, look around you and count how many have altezzas/APC products are present. I guaran-damn-tee you that you won't see much or any at all. How many videos are out there, in the Eye candy section specially, of cars with altezzas racing each other on the road? How many people on this board who race on the street and exceed 100mph have an APC muffler? You have to realize that people who buy APC products also love the scene as much as we do. Perhaps they may not spend half as much as we do, but the point is we can't penalize them for liking what they like. And this all leads to the argument of free speech and self expression. So if you happen to get pulled over, and not the APC/muscle car who has as much 'defective' mods as you, don't blame them BLAME THE COP.

Bottom line: DON'T JUDGE HIM B/C HE HAS APC PRODUCTS, JUDGE HIM B/C HE'S A FUCKING IDIOT WHO GIVE 'US', CAR ENTHUSIASTS, A BAD NAME.

I disagree with the girl that said they are illegal now. They are illegal to have on while the car is in motion. My explorer passed inspection with them on. As for interior lights, if you can see them from outside of the car, and they are red, blue, or purple, you will get pulled over for them. I know because I was pulled over atleast 3 times (no tickets). A lot of people really liked what I did with the lights and everything, and it looks OK on a few cars, but not all cars. I know there is a website somewhere that you can view all the VA laws and you should be able to find it.

No underbody lights....Just not worth it, to much trouble with cops/trying to keep them from smashing on a lowered car, my friend had them and he shattered his two side ones trying to get out of his driveway. Its just not worth the effort for a mod that you will get no performance out of and only get you ticketed if a cop see's them on.....

P.S. this thread has gotten way off topic....I blame ricers .....
