Those of you who have gotten exhaust citations.....

My insurance went up because of my last exhaust ticket, and it will only go up more if I don't beat this one.
I currently have Progressive and this is what they told me when I asked about it "While it is not a moving violation, it still shows up on your MVR and is therefore a surchargeable violation." I know Allstate will raise your rates for
exhaust/equipment tickets also.

The state code basically state anything louder than OEM is illegal. Only chance you have fighting this is to get a letter from Stillen or one of the local repair shop stating your exhaust was an OEM replacement. It is in perfect working order.

The fine is like $35 but the freaking court fee is like $55. I have one somewhere in my car. My court date is May 17th so I'll see if I can beat this one.

how IRONIC is this shit....i read this post yesterday morning and i was like yea my exhaust isnt that loud so im straight....came home from my boys house last night and got PULLED OVER...lol cop was chillen at 711 and i drove by at like 2 miles under speedlimit (no need to speed) and gives me another warning and says next time its a ticket...then he was pretty nice like talking to me...but he still searched my car and shit....IRONY SUCKS
Does your exhaust actually serve any purpose on your Maxima? An exhaust system like that on a car that was designed as a Japanese sedan stands out like a sore thumb.
Man i hate FFcounty, Im goin to court tomorrow to fight mine, I heard if u bring in pictures of ur exhaust fixed that they will drop it, and i got to fight the no seatbelt ticket he gave me also cuz i was wearing it and i got my girlfriend as a witness who saw me take it off as she passed me when the cop pulled me over. The stupid ass cop pulled me over for my license plate in the window and gave me a exhaust ticket.
The reason I put the Stillen exhaust was my factory exhaust was rotted out. It was the least ricey system available for the Maxima. Stillen and Greddy were really my only choice and the Greddy had nearly a 5" tip and was louder.
Why do Mustangs and Camaro's never get stopped for being too loud? The last time I checked flowmasters are not OE equipment for Mustangs. What about Harleys with loudpipes?
This is the third time i've been stopped in 4 months, and each time I wasn't doing anything wrong. The last time the cop told me my exhaust was too loud. What was BS about that stop was while he was standing behind my car and asked me to start it up yet my car was running the entire time.
The law is a double standard, I never once got stopped in my Camaro, and itwas ridiculously loud, (headers, cam, exhaust, and no cats).
