40k is not enough to support a family in this area.

Yea I figured 40K was kind of low but I figured I'd get some input from the people who lives up there. I'd probably be the only one working so i'll probably end up struggling, but I do not want to have to work over time and crap. Because of this I may not take the job. Thanks for all the input, I'll let my wife know.

 

lets put it this way.that place has blown up in the last 3 years. we bought a town house in lake ridge for 100k then 3 years later (last year) we sold it for 325k, and got the hell out lol

 

i live out in gainesville there is really no crime..it seems to be growing alot and you still have to go to manassas for alot of things

 

its much more diverse than the 757 i believe(at least newport news). i dont think 40k will support a family in NoVA.

 

Okay, what if i didnt buy a house, and instead just rent out an apartment (and possibly just rent the house I own right now in Virginia Beach).
Then would 40K be good enough? I'm just trying to explore some options.

What's the cost of living in those areas, and are those areas well diversed? I heard that manassas was kind of ghetto, and I rather not live in an area like that.

 

well where exactly is your job going to be at? cause nova's a reaaaly big area. you could live sooo many different places.

and yea manassas is straight up Mexicans (no offense to anyone) but its crazy the amount of them.
