Default Prince William County Area

I believe this is the NOVA area. Well I plan on moving to this area around January 07. I know this place is the suburbs and I live in Virignia beach. I never been up in the area, but I have been offered a job around there. Some questions I have are, cost of living, crime, entertainment, is it a fast paced life style, school system, hospitals (my wife is pregnant), and how far is it from some major cities. Any and all comments are welcomed. I also plan on visiting this area sometime in November, Thank you.

pwc is more faced pace then va beach. Think va beach, maybe 5 years or so from now. I've lived up there and watched it grow, and now live in norfolk, so i've been in va beach area a bit. Especially the whole lakeridge/woodbridge/dale city area(where i'm from in pwc). If you live a little more to the west of it though, but in the county like out towards manassas, its a little slower. But you'll still find yourself traveling through the congested parts to do anything.

I just moved from Fairfax to Newport News, so i know what you mean.

Its much more fast paced than the 7 cities area. The cost of living in PWC is probably on par with the suburbs of VA beach, but once you get into fairfax the prices skyrocket. Depending on where in PWC you are, there are very nice parts, and bad parts (like comparing VB Oceanfront to Downtown Newport News or Hampton, there are all kinds of areas), and not to scare you, but theft(car theft at least) is a lot higher up there than the 757. School systems arent bad, but Fairfax is better i think. almost all of the hostpitals in NoVA are pretty good. Depending on where you are, you may be 30 minutes or up to an hour an 10 minutes from DC. theres a lot of entertainment if you go to the right places, depending on what you like. You can be pretty far out in PWC and still not be in the boonies and relatively close to Woodbridge or Manassas(big cities in PWC). Hope that helps!

There are some good schools in PWC such as Forest Park High School, I went to Potomac which normally has a reputation for being a bad high school but it really isn't, it has opportunities for a good education such as their AP classes and Cambridge Program. That is really all I know as far as high schools, I don't know really anything about the elementary and middle schools.
I live in the Woodbridge/Dumfries area and it's a decent area. It's growing really fast, they are buliding tons of house along Route 1 in between Woodbridge and Dumfries. There is the marine base down the road too. Potomac Mills is about 10-15 minutes away. Tysons Corner (more rich and bigger mall) is about 35-40 minutes away. It is also not too far away from DC. But this also depends on what part of PWC you move to. I am mostly talking about Woodbridge/Dale City/Dumfries/Triangle/Quantico area.
