It may sound funny or you may think that these guys are giving you shit about the whole alarm and garage thing but its really true. While you start to do your research about what you can do to modify your car just look at this forum and tell me how many threads you find about a stolen Honda. I got rid of my turbo b16. I loved that car but I figured it was getting to about the point that it was gonna get stolen. If I got another Honda the first thing that I would do to the car was put a kick ass alarm/gps tracking system on the car. People around here do not care and they will take your shit. The sad part is there are a few of those people reading what Im telling you right now.
The best advice I think I can give you is to keep your car as low key as possible. Any flashy parts or really nice wheels are just huge neon signs that say steal me please. What is "popular" right now is the clean look. That is to say that you keep the car relatively stock in appearance, have a bad ass motor, and a few rare parts. The problem is, that those low key rare parts are now more attractive than ever. Youre kind of damned if you do damned if you dont.]
A couple of things that you can do to have a really nice Honda that can be appreciated.
1. Really nice stock paint. No need to get any crazy color. If it needs paint do it and then keep it nice.
2. Throw some GSR blades on there. They are really clean and give you that OEM sporty look.
3. Stick with the b16. Its probably Hondas most popular engine. If you are looking to have a significant gain, the easiest and cheapest way to go is a turbo, but that is going to get you alot of attention. Some good and alot bad. My advice for you would to take that thing out and put some higher compression pistions, upgraded valvetrain (so you can rev the piss out of the motor), and a ported and polished head. Then ofcourse you have all of your obvious bolt-ons.
Look into Honda-Tuning the magazine. They have put out alot of really nice technical articles with specific gains from different bolt on products. Finally, my last bit of advice for you is, if you need any work done give Inline Performance in Springfield a call. They are the best in the Honda business and are great to work with. I have never had a question that they were not more than happy to take the time to answer. Good luck and for God sake dont get your shit stolen.
If you have anymore questions or want to know what specific parts Im talking about please PM me. I really miss having a Honda and itd be cool to talk about again.
