Default Illegal to leave your car running?

Did anyone else hear this on the radio?

It is now illegal to leave your car running and unattended even if it is in your driveway! So thoes mornings when its cold outside and you want to get into a warm car, cant do it anymore. Cops are roaming the neighborhoods and will be placing tickets on your windshield. The reason....they're trying to cut down on the amount of stolen cars in the area.

lame ass reason to put money in the cities pockets.

How would this affect those that have remote starters on their cars? I know with mine, that if you don't have the key in the ignition and turned to run, when you push on the brake to put the car in gear, the car dies.

I would think it would be easy to fight it if you have some sort of remote start on your car. It's not like you're leaving the keys in it for them to just get in the car and drive off.

^ I'm sure if you have some kind of proof of remote start you could fight it. This would never fly in an area with a very cold climate such as Michigan or the Dakotas etc... remote starts are a necessity there. My boss is from Michigan and has a newer Altima or Maxima (whichever one is better) and he starts it from the 5th floor of the office everyday. His remote beeps to tell him the car has started. By the time he gets down and it it it's all warm and cozy.

As long as it's an automatic. It's also illegal to have remote start on a manual tranny.
