got a ticket in stafford....
Hello fellow VA Driven members, I was heading up to Fairfax, Va to visit my girlfriend and on the way i got pulled over for 82/65 mph. The code is 46.2-862. I was wondering how the court system is out in Stafford, and if anyone knows any good lawyers. I know I was in the wrong, but i was hoping i can at lease get it reduced.. thanks for you help, John
if this is your 1st ticket , walk in the court room and ask for driving school. its the quickest way out of the ticket and most the time they will reduce it alot. like i got my 1st one when i was 18 it was a 52 in a 25. i walked in told the judge it was my 1st ticket and im sorry, asked to take a driving school. took the class and got reduced to 9 over the limit. and walked away fine free..
My girlfriends cousins boyfriend got pulled in stafford. depending on your age, you might go to Juvie for a few days. Thats the new thing for that area, if you're caught speeding/reckless and you're under 18.
Other than that, just remember that its a country sort of area and they don't take too kindly to city folk.

Ask for a continuance and hope the cop doesn't show up the 2nd time, worked for my reckless ticket. You can also sit in court when you ask for the continuance and see how tough they are on other people with similar offenses to yours.
If its your first offense.. take the driving school BEFORE your court date and take your certificate and show it to the judge. Be very apologetic and say that it was a lapse in judgement and that you vow to never do it again.
If it ISNT your first offense.. well.. have fun in jail (possibly.. depending on how big of a dick the judge is). In VA anything over 80 is grounds for being placed in jail.. and anything over 90 is mandatory jailtime.

Stop spreading misinformation. Was the judge there when you got the ticket? No. You have to be proven guilty which cannot be done if the officer isn't there, when they ask you your plea say not guilty and be done with it.
