the door must open in a stock manner, and latch in a stock manner.
although, it all depends on the inspector's interpretation of the book. i know i will reject the fuck out of them, cause 9 out of 10 of the "kits" used are shitty as fuck, and the doors have issues latching correctly.

however....the new book is kinda vague about it, and shaved handles are now legal. to pass at least.

I think that Lambo doors are gay as shit and unsafe in and of themselves and not a legit way to latch a door but the problem I have with failing a car for them is.........You don't even have to have doors on a car in VA, right?

FC: Just as a hypothetical, what would happen if he was to bring it in to be inspected with no doors at all? Aren't doors more or less like a windshield....You don't HAVE to have a windshield but if you do it can't be all cracked up.

If it opens and latches CORRECTLY/SECURELY, I don't see the problem. Maybe you just went to a dealership... those guys are too scared about anything that isn't a new stock car...
Try somewhere else

its for my brothers civic with a typeR motor in it. hes kinda in california for some schooling for the navy and he told me to get his car inspected. i drive a 92 240. and i want to become drifter. i practice in my school parking lot lol. but i took it to a chevron the guy was like it makes it hard for me to get in. and i was like i get in jsut fine. its bull shit. and btw. we had lambo doors on the car for like 2 and a half years now. almost 3 years. and it does just fine untill this year. i think the inspctors in our area are getting stricter.

this proves my point that most people associated with mods like that are retards, and should be dealt with accordingly.

it has to have a windshield, and it has to have body components that came stock. ride around without a door, and see what happens. its in the motor code, not in the inspection code though. but still, if the vehicle was made after jan 1 1951? (i gotta check that in the book, been a while since i took the test) it has to have a windshield.
