but, hypothetically speaking, if somehow you were able to get permission to build such a place, the next thing you would have to do is find money for the insurance - the coverage you will need is roughly $500k-1mil. yes, you can have people sign waivers to say that you are not responsible for anything they do, but you still need to have insurance just incase other people get hurt. such as, a drifter crashes into the audience, you will have to pay for all the people that got hurt/died/whatever. most likely all dreams of creating such a place are now out the window, but theres more! if you can get permission, afford building costs, and afford insurance, theres still the problem that you will not be able to pay for any of it from what you make of drifting events. theres no possible way that you can do this... theres just not enough people that will want to drift. how do i know all this? because me and my cousin planned on donig this a while back and we researched it a lot. we had several different sites, many of them miles away from anyone's house... but we still could not get zoned. its a wonderful idea, and i would love to see it happen, but it just isnt realistic.
exactly, i guess the government realizes it also...drifting = ice skating with wheels minus the tights ....

These are all things i took into account when i wanted to start a good local 1320 Strip. Also 5 acres in Centerville will run you anywhere from $200k-$1 mill.

you still might need some insurance policy to back you up

yeahthats alot of money your gonna have to invest into this project, but i can see it becoming a good things, since drifting is becoming bigger, and there aren't that many lots near nova that u can drift. so once your done just make people pay to come drift and i think u can make alot of money.

as much as i would love to be able to drift at will, even though it would be private property, you would run into problems. at first you would probably be alright, as long as no one snitched on the noise. once it starts becoming a regular occurance you better believe people will complain (ie. old ladies, rich white people, etc.). though you cant get tickets for drifting and shit on your own property, police are going to be up your ass. you will get fined for public disturbance, and possibly even public endangerment (depends on where your location is). you are correct in assuming traffic violations are not ticketable on private property, but once you start getting other people in the community involved (doesnt really matter how they are being effected, they will find a way to bitch about it), the police will shut you down.

if you ever do sanction a small event, ill gladly attend. if you can organize it good, and have suffecient runs, i personally know people, including myself, that would be willing to pay to drift. id say charge around $20-50 depending on how professionally you set it up. understand though that without proper liscencing, you can get in trouble if people want to complain enough.

as for drifting becoming popluar and whatnot, ive been looking into creating such a place but all the places that it would be feesable to do are way out in the country. im sure people would travel there but there isnt a large snough support of drifters yet to be able to fund such a buisness. i do intend on having road tracks later on in my life on personal property, but i also think that if you can find the right zoning, and you want to have drift, you should create a 1/4 mile track in the same facility. not only will that draw much much more people, but it will help drifting get more popularized since you will have both going on at the same place. if i were to open a drifting 'arena' any time in the near future, i would end up doing it like that. good luck though man, let me know if you set anything up
