Wondering what you all thought of this idea...couple friends of mine own some land out towards centerville, and my friends and i are thinkin of opening up a drift lot...kinda like some of the places out in cali. We'd charge like $20 entry but it'd be open to anyone as long as they signed an agreement that we would not be responsible for any damage.

Also wondering if anyone knew if there are any straight drift events in this area? I know of autocross events, drag events, etc. but im just getting into drifting and was wondering. Also, when I mean close I don't mean richmond, or wva, im talking about places like fedex, or any other local spots.

as far as land like clover leaf you wont find anything like that near here, most of the people in n.va usually drift on any open lots, or open roads with no traffic. but ill be interested in that, i was planning on doing sumthing like that as well.

Im not gonna be retarted and post where some spots are, but some friends and i are starting a drift club called BROKEdrift...we've got an m3, 325, 240, and a Cobra. All are about to get an extra 240, so about 10 cars total. If you drift, we should meet up sometime...I wanna see what some other people around this area can actually do...

I usually keep my drifting to school parking lots and the Fair Oaks mall on Saturdays. However, I am definately interested in finding a less populated place to get sidewayZ. Keep me posted.

As of right now BROKEdrift has...

1998 M3
1993 325is
1993 240
1993 240
1998 Mustang Cobra...

Four other 240's (current members buying another car), on the way...

Getting help from Vertex Motorsports, and also Merchants Tires...

Were lookin to spread the word, and open a place, so if you all are interested we might be hosting a chill place in merryfield, and then go to some NO NAME locations...

Also, if this plot of land comes through, anyone who helps out in the beginning, won't be charged

uhhh... sorry man, but you are most likely going to be dissappointed... first off, having an area paved is not cheap by anymeans. to have a decent sized lot made will cost you at the minimum $30k. that is the least of your problems, for the first milestone you will have to reach is getting your land zoned for that kind of shit. the likely hood that you will get your land zoned for such a buisness is next to nothing. sound restrictions will be one of the main reasons... unless you can enclose the lot and have sound barriers (this is more money... not chump change either). also you will have to have the majority of surrounding people sign that they are willing to have such a buisness in their area. centreville is hardly the area that you will get permission to create such a fantasy world, its just to popluated for the idea to work.

but, hypothetically speaking, if somehow you were able to get permission to build such a place, the next thing you would have to do is find money for the insurance - the coverage you will need is roughly $500k-1mil. yes, you can have people sign waivers to say that you are not responsible for anything they do, but you still need to have insurance just incase other people get hurt. such as, a drifter crashes into the audience, you will have to pay for all the people that got hurt/died/whatever. most likely all dreams of creating such a place are now out the window, but theres more! if you can get permission, afford building costs, and afford insurance, theres still the problem that you will not be able to pay for any of it from what you make of drifting events. theres no possible way that you can do this... theres just not enough people that will want to drift. how do i know all this? because me and my cousin planned on donig this a while back and we researched it a lot. we had several different sites, many of them miles away from anyone's house... but we still could not get zoned. its a wonderful idea, and i would love to see it happen, but it just isnt realistic.

damn man, nice post...I understand all that about the lot, money, insurace, etc. but what if we already had the lot...from a friend...got people to sign the waiver's etc. if you were drifting or not... also, what if we were drifting in a lot...and it was just our property? the only problem I could see is a noise violation...but could the police take big action against this? Like...if we had permission to be on the lot, and were screwing around...could we get any sort of moving violations?
