COPS COPS COPS
Ok, now that I got your attention. I need all your advise on some tickets that I got last week. My miata def. stands out and I finally got pulled over for
1.Improperly displayed front tag
2.Aftermarket exhaust.
3.Altered suspension.
So i've heard mixed things about this.
1. pay the fine, dont fix anything and just wait to get pulled over again down the road.
2.Fix it temporarily take pictures and show them in court, and possibly get them dismissed???
Tell me what you have heard and experienced.
***btw i did a search, didnt find much info***

I LOVE THE ATTITUDE!!! the car stands out for drifting. It is a drift car that is driven periodically on street.(still has legal va and emissions) I have already put the front tag on, and thinking of ways to get a cut out with a more stock like exhaust on.
I posted on here to ask what you all experienced. Not just to get bashed.
Thanks

How low is the car? VA Code says it needs to be at least 14" (and Max at 18") from the ground to the bumper support, unless it has Hot Rod tags (which is dosent).
(http://leg1.state.va.us/cgi-bin/legp....2-1063+402679). Take off your front bumper, and measure the bumper support to the ground and take a pic of it with measuring tape there. If the hard evidence shows its legal, they must drop it.
What exhaust is it? VA Code states that it needs to be "Similar" to stock, and must not create "excessive" noise (up to cop)(http://leg1.state.va.us/cgi-bin/legp...+cod+46.2-1049), but cannot be straight through muffler (http://leg1.state.va.us/cgi-bin/legp...+cod+46.2-1047).
As far as the imporoperly displayed tag, the VA Code CLEARLY states that a license plate must be secure, clearly visable, not be able to swing, and the plate itself has to be clearly legible. It DOES NOT say, however, that the plate must be attached to the front bumper. Make sure that front plate is visable (pressed up against the window so it is CLEARLY visable), and make that clear to the judge (http://leg1.state.va.us/cgi-bin/legp...0+cod+46.2-716).
May want to print off those specific laws I linked you too, as most judges see that people don't research the ticket and simply pay/fight it with no grounds to win. As far as what to do for the others, if they're obviously legal, fight it. If not, pay it/fix it. I dont know your particular situation, but Ive helped multiple friends get out of these same tickets simply because the law states what is allowed and the ticket dosent comply with the law. Hope this helps.
