I don't agree with the 80 over theory as i was clocked at 93 in Runtsburg, VA on my way home from Smith mountain lake and wasn't taken to jail at all.

But i do agree you should get a lawyer!!

Take a voluntary driver's class, its always something to fall back on in court saying you did it. I don't know anything else but your lucky you are under 18.

 

Anything over 90mph is mandatory jail sentencing in VA. I was seen racing and then paced over 100mph on 495. Long story short, I spent 5 days in jail with another 80 suspended. $350 in fines and 6 months w/o a license. I went in w/o a lawyer and upon talking to one, I was told that I was pretty lucky. Since usually over 90mph, its 1 day per mph over the speed limit.

Since your a juvenile you probably won't get sent to jail. However you will most definately lose your license for some time. This will be mostly due to the fact a lot of 16-19 year olds have been killing themselves racing in our area lately. Plus juvenile judges are pricks. FYI, if you get judge valentine, your screwed.

 

Ok listen, honestly, you have nothing to worry about. First, u are under 18. Second, its ur first ticket. I got a 76/35 ticket and it was my second offense before i was 18. That was also in FFX, not loudoun. This is what you need to do... you may want to think about getting a lawyer, but DEF take the driving improvement class before your court date. you may want to think about getting ur speedometer calibrated to see if its a little off. And then put ur game face on when you go infront of the judge, and he will know its ur first ticket, tell him you know driving is a privilage and you simply made a mistake. Since its ur first, i bet it will atleast be dropped to an improper which is -3 instead of -6. and if u take thew course before the court, you will get +5. so all in all, u will be strait. i doubt u will lose ur license. i didnt lose mine till my 4th ticket. Ya, he wont go to jail, and i doubt he will lose his license. and judge valentine is in ffx courts, not loudoun. if he works at dtc mall, he prolly was in loudoun. but anyway, u are right, the one thing that may hurt him is all the teens lately getting in accidents and such. I think i heard 17 deaths in the metro area this year already. So they are def cracking down, but since its his 1st ticket, that gives him a lil room to work with.

 

I thought he said ffx....oh well. Either way, don't go in acting all cocky and think your getting off light. Take the situation seriously.
