since we are on the topic of speeding and reckless... on Sun night/ Mon morning, it was like midnight... I got pulled over on 66 going 87 on 55. I was just out for a drive cuz i was taking a break of studying for final exams. The cop asks me what im in a hurry for, im like, no reason. He asks where im going, i just say, no where, im just driving. Obviously that sounds like a lie but thats the truth. Then he goes your going to BK in Manassas arn't you? I say, "i am not". Hes just like.. ok like he dosn't believe me. Anways i also got ticket for exhaust and inspection sticker, but i dont really care about those, i can get those straightened out, im just worried about the reckless... what kind of punishment can i be getting? I am 18.

take the driving classes before your court date. the sooner the better. it looks good for the judge and he/she may think you know you were wrong, and trying to better yourself. i had 94 in a 60 and i lost my license for 6 months, and a day in jail. nothign serious, no community service. but if you want to play it safe get a lawyer of course. i think even a cheap one will get you out of this. if your not getting one, make it clear that your a minor and you need your car to get to and from school / work, and your work hours vary or something like that... and you spend alot of overtime. little things like that help, but if you dont work, i wouldnt bother. i dunno its early and im not thinking straight, i guess all i can really say is good luck and take the driving classes.

edit: im about 90% sure you wont go to jail, but prepare for the worst.

Depends, sometimes taking the driving class helps. It didn't do much for me because of the speed I was going. I still ended up going to jail, getting my license taken and getting fined.

He's not going to get his license taken away and hes not going to get probation and he sure as hell isnt going to jail. I got a ticket just like this when I was 17 and all I had to do was pay the court and ticket fines and take a driver improvement course. It will be erased by the time you are 18.

He won't be going to jail b/c hes a juvenile w/ no history. The courts will not want to interfere with his schooling, so no jail. Suspended jail sentence maybe, but doubtful. Community service likely and driving school likely. A lot of variables of ur particular situation matters in this (how quick u pulled over, were you an ass to the cop, what the cop observed you doing). Get a lawyer, reckless charge is a serious charge and the expertise of the lawyer will help in addition to the mere presence of the lawyer will show the judge that you really do care about the charges placed against you.

In regards to an earlier comment about being pulled for going over 90 in a 55 and not getting jailed and even having it knocked down...Arlington and Fairfax Counties are the only counties that have the "1 day in jail for every 1 MPH over 90" standard in addition to the standard that nothing at 90 and above get knocked down to Improper Driving. I've been keeping an active eye on all court case outcomes since October that involve 89/55 Reckless and upwards...generally 89,90, and 91 get suspension of license and sometimes a suspended jail sentence. Anything over 91 typically gets active jail time in addition to an automatic 6 month license suspension. Whether or not you can get it restricted to work and educational use is another question though. Anything under 89 typically gets just a fine, and if u have a decent lawyer, can be knocked back to improper driving.

That was also in FFX, not loudoun. This is what you need to do... you may want to think about getting a lawyer, but DEF take the driving improvement class before your court date. you may want to think about getting ur speedometer calibrated to see if its a little off. And then put ur game face on when you go infront of the judge, and he will know its ur first ticket, tell him you know driving is a privilage and you simply made a mistake. Since its ur first, i bet it will atleast be dropped to an improper which is -3 instead of -6. and if u take thew course before the court, you will get +5. so all in all, u will be strait. i doubt u will lose ur license. i didnt lose mine till my 4th ticket. PM me, we can talk more...
x 2

BUT if you get anymore tickets while under 18 they're gonna rape you Kobe Bryant style.
