My bike's top speed (dyno proven) is 168mph; my speedo was reading 180mph. It won't reach that speed on the street with wind resistance and my body weight added to it.
Fastest I've seen my speedo read is 165mph. So prolly doing 155-158 true speed.
Dampers won't make a difference at high speeds.....................UNLESS: you are holding the bars too tight, you hit a bump and the energy gets transferred back into the forks/wheel because you didn't let the bike correct itself 'cause you were holding on too tight.
A good rule of thumb is to actually lessen your grip on the clip ons at higher speeds. The whole purpose to a damper is to absorb that energy for you and stop tank slappers from happening. I've had one happen to me at about 120......not fun lemme tell ya.

this week and weekend is all supposed to be nice, we shall ride... i rode the 1000 yesterday for the first time after not riding it for about 2 months, its scary now
