Shawn Slone, of the 3600 block of Gateway Drive in Portsmouth, was headed west on Military about 4 p.m. when his motorcycle collided with a Chrysler sedan that was headed east, according to a police news release. Slone was 21.

The driver of the Chrysler was attempting to turn left onto Sparrow Road when the collision occurred, according to police.

The driver of the Chrysler suffered minor injuries.

Police charged Larry Weatherington of Chesapeake with reckless driving, said Christi Golden, police spokeswoman.

Anyone on the boards know him? At least the guy that caused the wreck is being charged in some shape or form.

ive been on more motorcylce accidents in the past 3 months than car accidents in the entire year at my station. Ive had one almost every shift this month, last week got called out .dude lost control of his bike being an idiot going way too fast, hit a mailbox, flew 30 ft and broke his damn legs. I was considering getting a bike months ago, ive since reconsidered. I am by no means NOT blaming the driver of the chrysler for this guys death. Ive also been on alot of bike accidents that were no fault of the riders, all the car drivers fault, but still, the damage thats done being on a bike is constantly worse than any car/car accident.

its definitely unfortunate this guy lost his life.
