Question about selling bikes
I'm thinking about selling my bike but was concerned about listing it. I don't want people showing up to just take it for a joy ride. How do you sell a bike and feel comfortabe letting people test ride it? I know most shops won't let you ride new bikes w/o paying first, but how does it work with something used? I figured they'd have to have a M license, maybe cash in hand or downpayment? I'd hate to see somone doing wheelies or lay my bike down.

Re: Question about selling bikes
haha well make sure they are really into the bike b4 a test ride dont just let them hop on it right away. and make sure the money or check is with them already .. dont let it be like " o igonna go get the money first" b4 a test ride. also if it does get to the point .. you can always say " you can ride it but without a helmet or gear" that way you know they wont try anythig stupid and a MOTORCYCLE license is a PLUS to HAVE

Re: Question about selling bikes
Cash nothing else in hand for the bike, given to you, then they sign a disclaimer that if they wreck it, they bought it.
They ride it in front of you up and down your street, parking lot, whatever.

Re: Question about selling bikes
I personally wouldn't let anyone test ride the bike, and if I somehow did they'd have to hand me over the money first. Secondly, I wouldn't sell to anyone if they didn't have a M class license.

Re: Question about selling bikes
Pretty simple, just say no test rides. They dont get to test ride until they've signed a bill of sale and put cash in your pocket. WAY too easy for someone to trash your bike and then say "not interested".
As for the class M, I'd say that's a good rule of thumb. I wouldnt want to be responsible for some noob buying a bike of mine and then offing themselves on it. Not the seller's fault, but the seller didnt do anything to stop it either, ya know?
