PICS FROM THE "MAXTON MILE" (56k warning)
for those that don't know what that is, it's an all out top speed run on the airstrip in maxton, nc. just got back last night. it's a standing start, 1 mile course. we beat our class record by 11mph on the first run!
for those that think it's easy to go fast, you have no idea.
anyway, here's some pics. sorry there's some cars in the mix, i cut and pasted this post from another forum i posted these too.

Re: PICS FROM THE "MAXTON MILE" (56k warning)
old bmw airhead
gsxr750 streamliner
another HP altered
i loved this car
this one too
Mike getting ready to make his record breaking run (yup, on an 800lb bagger!)
supercharged ford gt40. one of the nicest rides there, and CRAZY fast
was a blast, and after all that, i'm thinking about building something to go fast on
the crew guys kept trying to get me to run my chop... but speed runs on a rigid bike with a springer didn't sound like too much fun, not that it would pass tech anyway, lol.
we're goin back in september to try and better our record. some of the cars/bikes there were breaking 250mph from a STANDING START in only a mile. freakin craziness!

Re: PICS FROM THE "MAXTON MILE" (56k warning)
unfortunately that's all i have. i was busy as hell getting the bagger to pass tech inspection.
they do speed trials at maxton 5 times a year. it's about 5hrs south, pretty much on the nc/sc line. you have to get an ecta (East Coast Timing Association) membership to run, and the car/bike has to pass thier tech inspection.
there's a shit-ton of classes!
for instance, Mike ran in MPS/PG-3000/4
M- Modified (cuz it's not showroom stock)
PS- Partially Streamlined (b/c it has a fairing)
P- Pushrod (it's a harley, duh)
G- Gas (meaning no nitro, etc)
3000 - (engine size, maximium 3000cc, even though we weren't even close to maximum)
4- 4 stroke
the record for Mike's class was 118, we did 129 on the test run! (keep in mind this is a standing start, and only a mile long track) he was smacking the rev limiter in top gear before he even got to the timing lights, so with a little more gearing, he'd be able to go faster. lord knows he's got plenty of power in that friggin bike. the fastest bagger in the world right now is good for 150mph, but that was done at Bonneville, where they have an 8 mile track to play on. We may end up regearing the bagger and trying to break the world's fastest bagger record at some point, at Bonneville.
and uh... i was looking thru the ECTA records, the MG-650/4 (my chop's class ) record is 157.....hmmmmm.... time to build a monster motor!!
