Easiest way to learn good body position... I was taught to imagine you're trying to kiss the mirrors. Try it and you'll see how fast you can take turns without touching the sides of the tire.

Re: peoples perception: riding on chicken strips
skr00z said it best. Don't let shit talkers force you into trying something you're not ready for. You'll learn what your bike can and can't do. TheGreatLean is also right. Most shit talkers are people who have "fast" bikes but you'll notice that they haven't rode very long and "slow" down at curves then speed up coming out of it.
Next time someone says something about chicken strips to you. Tell them even the best riders have chicken strips. You must have met these shit talkers at the BP on the ocean front. That place tends to fill up with shit talkers and people screaming they're bike will do 250mph. Idiocy.

next time you meet a group of bikers who are doing alot of shit talking take a look at what they're wearing it's usually a good indication of what kind of rider they are.
I'd be willing to bet most of those guys weren't wearing any protection at all other than the helmet and how many of them had helmet mohawks those are usually signs of squids
