Re: Need help with Jacket
feildsheer is the better choice.. better price and best bang for the buck. I have ridden with the high temp mesh jacket in 30s temps and warm as hell. It has the linner in it that can be worn as another jacket. take out the liner and wear it in the summer.... I have sold joe rockets to hate them for the money would think they would be better. There liners in there meshes are for mild cold or rain liners. but the feildsheer if you buy the right one will work for cold and hot... you dont need to buy leather. look up the high temp jacket with this jacket you cant go wrong.

Re: Need help with Jacket
if you're buying online then newenough.com has it for a much better price and excellent customer service
VA is almost a 3-jacket area with mesh for the summer, textile for the winter and leather in between. My leather jacket was worn the least and it vented well.
I'd look at other brands as well. Both JR and Fieldsheer are ok but there's a lot better gear out there for the same money.
Speed and strength is a new brand out that has an awesome convertible textile jacket which looks great and might work.

Re: Need help with Jacket
I have seen almost every jacket and (sampled myself) out there but none that has a liner that can also be worn as a seperate jacket and none as thick of a liner as the fieldsheer. so lets say you ride to work and you are going to lunch with coworkers you dont have to have anther jacket. you zip out the liner and you are wearing a jacket. the liner looks like a flight jacket. there is not maney jackets that can do that and is as thick.... three jackets thats just spending two mutch money. all you need is one a all around jacket

Re: Need help with Jacket
i have that fieldsheer jacket, not that I ever wear it, but it's a really nice winter jacket. Probably one of the warmest I've ever owned.
I had the earlier version of that JR jacket a while back, and it was a great jacket, but JR's leather jackets tend to be very stiff until you wear them for a while. the "tail" of the jacket was real stiff, and every time I sat on my old 954, the jacket would raise up and wasn't comfortable. Granted, my 954 had dirtbike bars on it, so I sat alot more upright. It might not be so much of an issue on a stock sportbike, since you'd be leaned over farther.
Btw, if you're using it for a strictly cold weather jacket, don't go with perforated leather. Kind of defeats the purpose.

i have this fieldsheer Jacket... and i'm very happy with it... liner is thick, the jackets overall is nice, and it ventilates a lot thru the arms...

I would recommend you get 2 jackets, one for summer, one for the rest.

http://www.fieldsheer.com/site2009/f...rtTXJacket.htm
I have plenty of warming layers i can add under or over it if weather requires. Not to mention when its 30-40 degrees i really dont care what i look like on the way to work as long as im warm.
