Default My first bike.

Got my first bike the other day. Its a CBR600F2 with a D&D slip-on. Needs some body work but other then that it has no problems. Does anyone know of any web sites that sell complete fairing kits?

Antoher thing is that when I start the bike, it has a knocking sound for some reason but after a few seconds or so, it goes away. My freind also has an F2 with the same problem and he said it was normal but I don't know about that. He said it has to do with the oil pressure.

What types of things do I really need for the bike? I was thinking about some bar ends and frame sliders as well as a jet kit soon. Is installing the jet kit fairly easy?

Does anyone in the NOVA area work at a bike shop? Need to get a Tire put on and check over the bike to make sure everything is good.

thanks in advance!

good choice. my buddy had an f2.. i think they are great learning bikes.

the knocking.. it could be a lot of things. most likely (in my opiniion) it could be the valves needing adjustment. how many miles are on the bike and when was the last time they were adjusted? in reality though, no one will be able to diagnose a "knock" or "tap" over the internet, it would have to be heard in person.

It has 25k miles on it. I have no idea when the valves were adjusted. What does that usually cost for someone to do that? or could i just do it myself.

BTW, where can i get a repair/service manual from? Do you think Boarders or Barnes and Noble would carry it?

Thank you!

I got the service manual for my f1 from Honda of Norfolk, check any honda bike dealer. Also check ebay for fairings, i had to search for a while to piece my f1 hurricane back together. G/l with the first bike.

that "knocking" you're hearing is the cam chain tensioner. just abou every f2/f3 does it. my stunt bike does it too.

it's not hurting anything. you can get a manual cam chain tensioner to get rid of the noise. if it starts making that noise ALL the time, then deffinately replace it.
