Motorcyclist crashes after high speed chase on I-264
Here's the thing though... I was smart enough not to run when I made the mistake of going too fast, and I did it at the wrong place at the wrong time..
but I can tell you one thing: lets say you're on a motorcycle.. you've got a state trooper chasing you... you decided you can't go to jail or afford to get in any more trouble, and in that split second you make a decision to run.. now you're running, and eluding, and you can't stop now because you're facing a felony for running since you already started to run.. you've got this trooper in your rear view trying to catch you.. what do you do? you speed up, right? you speed up, he speeds up, now you're both putting your lives on the line and you're both endangering innocent people around you if there happens to be anyone else on the road. would you be running if he weren't chasing you, or would you wise up and get off of that road after you saw he was taking radar on it (and not chasing you), and ride a bit more calm on the way home just trying to get away but not running? Personally, I've had that happen before.. went by radar too fast (we're talking 15-20 over probably, which is easy to do), saw the trooper, nearly pissed myself, never saw him come out into the road to chase or anything but I slowed down and got off that road and did not speed the entire way home.
Being chased can only increase the risk of someone getting hurt, ten fold! Whether it be an innocent civilian, the motorcyclist, or the officer himself, someone is at a high risk of getting hurt!
That's one thing I will never understand... Why chase a motorcycle? If I was doing something stupid, all you have to do is scare the shit out of me and I'll straighten RIGHT up! If you chase me, and I'm dumb enough to run, I'm going to get away at all costs right? The faster you go, the faster I go, right? Of course. It's an adrenaline/pissing contest.

if they weren't allowed to chase bikes no one would ever pull over, they would be declaring over a loud speaker that wheelies in traffic are now legal, doing 180 on the interstate is now legal, you no longer need insurance or license plates or registration and riding a stolen bike is legal, if you knew they couldn't chase you all you have to do is just not have a license plate and every time someone tries to pull you over just keep going
and you might be caught up in the moment but you always have the option of ending it yourself, if you don't, they most likely will, a friend of mine ran for a short bit, then decided it was too dangerous and pulled over and waited for the cop and took the punishment, so it is always an option

+1
you put that very well...
if your going to ride fast on the street, one of the MANY risks is getting a ticket.. if your going to do it, and you get caught, face the punishment...
plus, how easy is it going to be to fuck up when your caught up in the moment.. all the road hazards that are already there, add in some speed, some excitement, and someone chasing you.. just not worth it to me... but maybe thats me..
last summer i was coming up jefferson davis doing a standup wheelie, and probablyWELL over the speed limit. after i set it down i slowed up and was turning into a ford dealership to make a u-turn when i saw an un-marked car slowing down and pulling in after me. i knew it was a cop and he had caught me. i manned up, told him sorry and that i screwed up. i also had my helmet off and i had gotten off my bike before he ever got out of the car/turned his lights on. he gave me a slap on the wrist and a little lecture for about 15 minutes and he let me go. had i tried to keep going, im sure it would of ended a little different....
My buddy is a FFX county cop and he said they are told to back off (not completely stop the chase but give plenty of space) once they go past 100mph, after that they use the radio to try and to box the suspect in.
If the chase is on the highway, they get the staties involved.

You can always radio ahead.. You can always set up a road block.. Just because you're not doing a pit maneuver on a motorcycle doesn't mean you can't still catch the bad guy.
ya, when i mean theres a no chase law for a reason, i mean sure, follow them and shit, but have them keep their distance, radio ahead to a couple other officers and then catch them, and make sure they get their license plate # just in case they do get away. But having a bike going 120mph is definitely safer to others than a bike and a car going 120mph
i think dom and i met the guy that was his friend... apparently they went riding together and his friend ran from the cops and wrecked and like broke his thumb... the dude that was his friend has been riding 3 weeks and owns an R1 that he's dropped a few times already and told me and dom how he does wheelies and stoppies already..
but i dont know if this is the same guy but sounds familiar.

My friend drove by the accident last night. He said the dude was surely dead. The way he was describing the scene I'm amazed he's alive.
