Motorcycle Learner's Permit
you only have to hold it for 30 days if your over 19 .... also the permit is a complete seperate liscence it looks identical to your drivers liscence only at the top it states that it is a motorcycle permit .. .. then once you get the M they will stamp your drivers liscence.
True story:
I got my permit at 17. I went back 3 months later and got my license at the DMV. They do not know their own rules most of the time. Take the MSF and go right to DMV.

the whole m permit is gay, imo. the sad part is, i get my regular drivers lisence back in about a month, but to get my M stamp back i have to get a permit first, then retake all the tests, even though i ALREADY HAD a motorcycle endorsement. this is the SECOND time i've had to go thru all that crap. the first time wasn't even my fault, someone just forgot to check that box on thier computer. they STILL made me take the damn tests, and pay for them.

^^ Damn that sucks.
On another note, do you have to take the test if you wanna get a VA motorcycle license even if you already have a PA motorcycle license? A friend of mine just moved to the area and is wondering.

if he's not military, then yeah, technically he does have to get a va lisence. according to dmv he's got 30 days (or something like that) to get a va lisence if he becomes a va resident.
not that people always do it. i lived in ohio for a number of months and was "technically" a resident, but i never got an ohio drivers lisence. i still had va tags, so i never worried about it.
