I would say yes. If you get it for communication first and use the music feature on the rides you wont talk to anyone on.

from friends who used chatterbox's all the time, i would say it's a + thing to have. now if they have newer ones now that let you use bluetooth, i see that been something I need to pick up. oh, and i never heard from them about them being bulky or limiting anything.
