Ed Bargy class..........just got back!
No rain untill about 6 or 7 pm..............and we were obviously off the track by then.
I had a blast!! Ed knows his stuff and dispelled some rumors that most take as gospil; as well as giving great insight into all the aspects of amature(sp?) racing. I HIGHLY reccomend this school for those that have a couple track days under their belts and are planning on racing WERA. It was non-stop all day long. Either in class or out on the track; even for luch!
But DO NOT attend this class if you are relatively inexperienced; or you will get lapped time and time again by a stock 5 year old carb'd F4...................
The only thing I didn't like about the day was my own damn fault: Bought new pads for the front as one of them had stuck and worn unevenly: one pad was pretty much toast. Brought them with me to the track to change them Saturday morning. I ended up shredding the bottom pin while trying to break it loose. So, needless to say I did every track session all day with no brakes usage. I didn't want to chance it.
So there I am tooling around the track in 3rd gear only (I don't think I shifted once until the mock race) relying on throttle response alone for braking. Needless to say I was pretty smooth out there! I finished 5th in the mock race at the end........................oh well. But the bud I went down with took first and the hole shot! So it was cool.
The best part of the day for me was starting in 6th for the mock race and passing 3 people on the outside in turn 1 of the 1st lap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That was the best!
...............................I of course waited till the END of the day to tell Ed that I was trawling around all day without touching the brakes..................wanted to save the little I had for the race!!
