oh god another chain lube thread.

before this turns into another "oil" or "pod filter" thread...

if you lube your chain often enough then it can be vegetable oil and still not matter.
If you prefer not to do maintenance then get some dry/white/lithium grease and call it a week.

That being said, (non o-rings) I wash mine in simple green and an ultrasonic cleaner, rinse in atf+kerosene, then lube with used 10w40 or 5-w30 motor oil.
If it's new-ish, I soak for 2 days in it then apply it evenly with a paintbrush.
o or x rings just get the chain lube in a can treatment.
